New York City returned to its usual pace on Monday morning following a weekend nor’easter that brought gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and localized coastal flooding across the tri-state area. Despite initial concerns over widespread transit disruptions, the Monday morning rush hour saw minimal delays across the metropolitan area.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) reported that subway lines, commuter rail services, and major bus routes were operating on or near normal schedules. Emergency crews and sanitation workers spent Sunday night clearing fallen tree branches, pumping standing water from low-lying roadways, and unblocking storm drains to ensure key commuter corridors remained clear.
City officials noted that while minor clean-up efforts continue in surrounding coastal communities, the bulk of the storm system has moved offshore, allowing the region’s transportation infrastructure to recover smoothly.
