I hope he gets some compliments!

My Father Crochetsโ€”and His Talent Deserves to Be Seen

My father is a quiet, reserved man. He doesnโ€™t speak much about what he creates with his hands, and heโ€™s never been one to seek attention or praise. In fact, when it comes to his crochet work, he often hides it away, almost as if he’s ashamedโ€”not because it’s not beautiful, but because society hasn’t always been kind to men who choose to express themselves through crafts traditionally seen as โ€œfeminine.โ€

But Iโ€™ve seen his work. Iโ€™ve watched the way he pours patience, care, and creativity into every stitch. And I believe itโ€™s time people saw it too.

Crochet isn’t just a hobby. Itโ€™s an art. It requires skill, imagination, and a whole lot of heart. And my fatherโ€”like many men out thereโ€”has all of that. He creates intricate, thoughtful pieces that speak louder than words ever could. His hands might be rough from a lifetime of hard work, but they move with gentleness and grace when he’s holding a crochet hook.

He didnโ€™t want me to share his work, out of modesty or fear of judgment. But Iโ€™m proud of him. Iโ€™m proud of his talent, his quiet strength, and his willingness to express himself in a way that challenges outdated ideas of what men can or cannot do.

To all the men out there who crochetโ€”keep going. Youโ€™re artists, creators, and storytellers. Your work is valid. Your creativity matters. And the world is a better place with your craft in it.
