Robert De Niro compared America under Trump to something most people would never dare to say out loud. 🔥
The two-time Oscar winner, now 83, stood on a New York stage at a benefit concert for the First Amendment and didn’t hold back. For nearly ten years, De Niro has been one of Donald Trump’s most outspoken critics in Hollywood. But this time, he went further than ever. 🎤
He led the crowd in a chant of “shut the f— up” in response to comments from the president. Then he said it: he can’t love a country that’s led by what he called a racist, misogynist, xenophobic tyrant. His message, in his own words, was “I want my country back.” 🇺🇸
It isn’t the first time he’s used this comparison. Back in 2019 and 2020, he told Stephen Colbert that living under Trump was “like living in an abusive household,” and later described the country as being in a “national abusive situation.”
Trump hit back. In a Truth Social rant, he called De Niro “a sick and demented person with an extremely Low IQ” and suggested the actor should get on a boat and leave the country. He also claimed De Niro “broke down in tears,” which he did during a podcast interview with Nicole Wallace, when he got emotional while urging Americans to “save the country.”
De Niro’s answer to critics? “Who’s going to stop him? We the people.
