As a kid growing up on …

.

as a kid growing up on Arlington Ave in Plainfield, we lived 1 block from Arlington Grocery Store where l worked stocking/rotating shelves and delivering to Sleepy Hollow in a 1950 Chevy Panel truck., O’Brien’s Deli, Rosati’s Stationary where l learned how to steal pencils by sliding them up my sleeve then sitting at the counter to enjoy a fountain Coke and a real Drake’s Coffee Cake and to buy Mom’s Kents for a quarter., Dave’s Pharmacy got robbed by the drug addicts and G.O. Keller’s Dry Cleaning where my suits for church were cleaned. on the corner where big families always lived upstairs on Randolph Rd, then turn right to Randolph Texaco. as cheap as gas was, Dad could never afford a full tank in his ’56 2 tone 4dr Pontiac. this is not the actual picture but it looks exactly like where my mom held my hand while purchasing the meats for upcoming dinners.
