It was a scorching afternoon in Valdosta, Georgia — around 2:00 PM — when UPS driver Raheem Cooper noticed something that stopped him in his tracks.
A car door stood open. So did the front door of a nearby home. Then he saw her.
An elderly woman was lying on the hot pavement.
Without hesitation, Raheem ran to her side. The woman, 78-year-old Marie Coble, was awake but clearly in distress. Raheem gently told her not to move, then checked the house — no one was there. He immediately called 911.
But he didn’t stop there.
Raheem used the water bottle he had with him to cool her down, pouring it gently over her as the heat radiated from the pavement. He placed his UPS bags beneath her head to make her more comfortable and stayed by her side until help arrived.
Marie had collapsed while trying to bring groceries inside. Thanks to Raheem’s quick thinking and kind heart, she received the help she desperately needed.
“She’s like my grandma,” he later said.
Raheem didn’t just walk away after the ambulance left. He kept in touch with Marie’s family—and even started a GoFundMe to help cover her medical expenses.
In a world that often feels rushed and disconnected, Raheem Cooper reminded us what compassion truly looks like. 💛 Please take a moment to say THANK YOU for his quick actions!
