My Father Crochets—and His Talent Deserves to Be Seen
My father is a quiet, reserved man. He doesn’t speak much about what he creates with his hands, and he’s never been one to seek attention or praise. In fact, when it comes to his crochet work, he often hides it away, almost as if he’s ashamed—not because it’s not beautiful, but because society hasn’t always been kind to men who choose to express themselves through crafts traditionally seen as “feminine.”
But I’ve seen his work. I’ve watched the way he pours patience, care, and creativity into every stitch. And I believe it’s time people saw it too.
Crochet isn’t just a hobby. It’s an art. It requires skill, imagination, and a whole lot of heart. And my father—like many men out there—has all of that. He creates intricate, thoughtful pieces that speak louder than words ever could. His hands might be rough from a lifetime of hard work, but they move with gentleness and grace when he’s holding a crochet hook.
He didn’t want me to share his work, out of modesty or fear of judgment. But I’m proud of him. I’m proud of his talent, his quiet strength, and his willingness to express himself in a way that challenges outdated ideas of what men can or cannot do.
To all the men out there who crochet—keep going. You’re artists, creators, and storytellers. Your work is valid. Your creativity matters. And the world is a better place with your craft in it.
