An Innovative Idea
Campbell has always enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together to create something new. His plan was to use the land as the base for a house built from retired cargo ships. Initially, Campbell believed he had come up with a completely original concept. However, he later discovered that a similar structure had already been made. About 20 years after he conceived his idea, he learned of a hairdresser from Mississippi, Joanne Ussery, who had converted a Boeing 727 into her home. After her original home burned down, Ussery decided to rebuild in the shape of a plane and settle near a peaceful river. Inspired by this, Campbell decided to shift his approach and modify his plans.

The Boeing 727
In 1999, Campbell purchased a Boeing 727 from Olympic Airways for a staggering $100,000. The challenge was to get the massive aircraft to Oregon, which meant transporting it all the way from Athens, Greece. The total cost of getting the plane to his land amounted to around $220,000, factoring in the transport expenses. Despite the high price, Campbell felt the money was well spent.

Interior Design
Inside the airplane, Campbell kept a few essentials. The plane’s original restroom and some of the seats were retained, while he added a washing machine and sink for convenience. The space is simple but functional, with everything he needs for day-to-day life.
